Carousels

I love this picture...she's studying the mechanism that moves the "up downs" up and down. She's loved carousels (up downs) ever since she saw Mary Poppins.

Friday--May 23, 2008
After work, I headed for the hairdresser and finally donated the hair that I have been growing out FOREVER! I started formally growing it after my friend’s daughter donated her hair to Locks of Love, as did one of the other mom’s in our travel group. I’m really glad I did it and I’m REALLY happy that it’s gone! I must thank my parents for making it possible to keep that appointment! David has been busily working on his Master’s project, so my dad was on Megan duty all day and continued after nap time, so I could go. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Half gone!

The new do doesn't look that much different than the old one except that it's shorter...ALOT shorter! With hair like mine, there isn't much you can do with it!

We registered Megan for preschool! She’ll be attending The Creek Preschool which is affiliated with my parent’s church and is right across the parking lot from her dad, Grandma, Auntie Dee, and Auntie Sharon. She’s also spent quite a bit of time in their playground after hours and is familiar with the administrator and the playground supervisor...hopefully, that will help her (or me) adjust to being apart!

What's new?

Yay! Megan got her cast off last Wednesday and the doctor says that everything looks good! She was such a trouper through the whole thing. She hung on for dear life while the nurse cut the cast off, but there weren’t any tears or drama which surprised me a little since she was quite emphatic on Tuesday that she did not want to get it removed!

Here’s a picture of her cute little elbow. I opted not to keep her cast so I figured I’d get a picture of her x-ray for posterity. Do people really keep old casts? I’m as sentimental as most moms but that seems kind of gross!

After the cast came off we celebrated by going to the local zoo with Megan’s best bud Ya Qin and her mommy. The girls had a good time in spite of the fact that it was field trip central and there were relatively few animals to be seen!

One of the exhibits had this mirrored growth chart so kids could see how tall they were. That first blue line is the 3 foot mark...how and when did Megan make it to 38”? I guess that explains why her pants are too short, huh?

Megan is cast-free!

On Wednesday, Megan's cast was removed. Everything looks great! Unfortunately I missed the event as I was on a business trip. Carolyn said Megan did very well at the doctor's office. Other than her arm being itchy and dried out, she's enjoying life without a cast. Thank you for your prayers!

Carolyn was actually going to post something about this on Wednesday with pictures, but had trouble getting the computer to cooperate. I'm sure she'll post pictures soon now that her IT geek husband is home. :-)

Megan and her first (and hopefully last) cast Part 2

As David said, Megan does have a hairline fracture. None of the bones are out of place (hallelujah), but there is still some swelling and tenderness in the elbow region which indicates that there was some bleeding in there due to a break. So, she'll be in the cast until the 21st. The Dr.'s assistant asked her what color cast she wanted and right away she said she wanted black! Neither of us believed that she meant it, so he showed her all the sample colors, and sure enough, she pointed to the black one! Girl's got good taste! Now we just have to go shopping for some long sleeved shirts with sleeves that will fit over the cast since it's suddenly turned surprisingly chilly around here!

This one was just to cute not to include...she's learned to wink!

Megan and her first cast!

Megan visited a pedatric doctor that specializes in bones and stuff like that (sorry, I can't remember the right term and don't have time to look it up). He removed the splint that the ER put on and checked things out. While it is overall looking good, there is swelling in the elbow area and he said that there was a fracture - probably a hairline fracture. So, Megan will be wearing a cast for two weeks.

I'm sure Carolyn will post later and can tell you more about it and Megan's choice of color for her cast! :-) Carolyn said she handled the whole thing very well. We want to thank you for your prayers and we are so grateful for God's provision and protection.
